We are proud to offer certification classes for Lifeguard, CPR/AED, Pediatric and Adult First Aid at several of our Y locations.
Lifeguard Certification: This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to be a lifeguard and professional rescuer. Participants earn Adult and Pediatric First Aid, Basic Life Support CPR, Oxygen Administration and Lifeguard certifications. Must be 16 years of age and complete on-line learning prior to class. Entry swim includes 2 minute tread, retrieve a dive ring from 10-12 feet of water, swim 100 yards of Front Crawl and complete a continuous 250 yard swim broken into 50 yards each of Front Crawl with the head up, Breaststroke with head up, Breaststroke, Sidestroke and Elementary backstroke kick only. Written exam and practical skill work required for certification, Lifeguard certification lasts for 2 years and includes the skills and knowledge lifeguards need for pool, lake, river, surf and waterpark environments.
CPR/AED Certification: Recognize the symptoms of cardiac arrest in Adults, Children and Infants. Activate emergency medical services and provide CPR care until additional assistance arrives. Includes use of the AED and Choking relief skills. Complete 3 hours of on-line learning in the comfort of your home, followed by 3 hours of in person training covering the practical skill work, performance evaluation and written exams required for certification. Certification lasts 2 years.
Pediatric and Adult First: Provides an ideal training solution for schools, child care providers, youth sports coaches and businesses required to respond to medical first aid emergencies involving children and adults. Complete 4 hours of on-line learning in the comfort of your home, followed by 2 hours of in person training covering the practical skill work, performance evaluation and written exams required for certification. Certification lasts 2 years.
