INCLUSION SUPPORT AT THE Y
Our highly trained Inclusion Specialists foster a proactive environment where children can successfully navigate their environment, daily schedule and peer interactions.
YMCA classes are a place where children of all abilities have fun, explore, try new things, build skills and make friends. YMCA staff are provided with tools and strategies to support children as they participate in classes. The environment and pace of classes can be overwhelming at times so our inclusion Specialists are here to work with families to help children prepare and navigate their surroundings.
What to expect in a YMCA class/program
- Large Groups, 15+ Children
- Whole Group Participation
- Sensory Tolerance/Input
- Variety of textures (Life Jacket, Pool Noodles, Gym Mats, Rug, Chaulk, Sports Equipment)
- Loud noises
- Transition between segments of the class
